How to Make a Book Headboard

This quirky DIY headboard project from Instructables.com is a great way to punch up a bedroom.
The builder, who loves books, wanted something to jazz up her plain apartment bedroom. The solution is this homemade headboard, crafted using a thin sheet of plywood and a variety of old book covers. Use different colors of book covers to suit your decor scheme.
The plywood is first cut to size to fit behind the bed. After the book covers are removed from the books, they are flattened out and glued to the plywood in layers, until all of the plywood is covered. Putting weight on the headboard and allowing it to dry overnight between layers helps ensure that the books "set" well.
Once all of the books have been added to the board, the entire headboard is given several coats of finish, for shine and protection and to make the finished product easier to clean.
Once the headboard is completely dry, you can hang it behind the bed using 3M wall strips or mounting hardware and screws.
