These beds sit only 40cm from the wall to the front of the bed base when folded away, giving you almost all of your room back. The bed simply pulls down with ease due to the gas mechanism taking most of the weight.

The pull down handle is also the leg which supports the bed when down. These space saving beds are available in a range of colour combinations including cream, white & beech.

Back in 2002, Jane Arason was searching for a way to incorporate an extra bed into her home office, without taking up too much extra space. She came up with the idea of the Fu-Chest, and a company was born.

The Fu-Chest is cheaper than a Murphy bed and requires no installation. A variety of finishes and hardware options mean that the piece is customizable to your tastes and living quarters.

The original Fu-Chest looks like a cabinet and measures less than 20″ deep when closed. However, it opens to a full-length twin or full bed, complete with either an 8-inch futon mattress or a 12-inch Air Dream mattress.

Fu-Chest also makes the ZzZ Chest Futon Bed. Like the original Fu-Chest, this bed appears to be a freestanding cabinet, but opens to reveal a full bed, complete with storage drawers; it is available in twin, full, and queen sizes. It features a raised sleeping platform made by folding down the front panel onto extension runners.

The Wall Bed and Computer Desk in One is the perfect solution for guest rooms, studio apartments, home offices and dorms. If you haven’t figured it out yet, it’s simply a bed and desk combined. By day, you can enjoy your office-like setup and by night you can convert the desk into a bed.

It’s made of solid hardwood and veneers, and you’ll be happy to know that it’s not built out of particle board. It accomodates computer monitors up to 17″ and also carries a 10 year warranty on the bed mechanism and a one year replacement or repair warranty on cabinetry.

Generally it comes in an oak finish but there are other optional finishes available. Optional finishes are: sunset, chocolate, natural, unfinished and whitewash.

The twin-sized Wall Bed and Computer Desk in One weighs 260 lbs. and the full-sized bed and desk combo weighs 270 lbs.

The mattress for the bed is sold separately and the bed does require some assembly. Lastly, optional leg support is available which will allow you to use the bed without the use of a wall.

The Space Saving Bed is much like the Space Saver Bed, with the exception that there’s a little more work involved when you pull it out at night and put it up during the day. And there is no storage compartment for pillows.

However, if you don’t mind this then you can get the Space Saving Bed at a fraction of the cost. The Space Saver Bed tends to range around $1500 while the Space Saving Bed is about $500-$700. So you can see the savings is that of about $800-$1000.

The beauty of the bed is that is resembles a chest of drawers when it’s not in use, so you don’t sacrifice on beauty and design at any point. It’s made of oak veneer over a solid wood frame and comes with headboard. The Space Saving Bed is available in mahogany and oak finish and comes in twin or full size, depending on where you get it.

For twin, measurements are 44″W x 18″D x 35″H and for full, measurements are 58″L x 17.5″W x 35″H. The mattress is sold separately.
