Raised platform beds are great for small spaces; the construction allows for under-bed storage containers for everything from linens to toys to out of season clothing. But in-store models can be expensive, which is why the author chose to build his own model. You could create similar bed for a twin, full, queen, or king-size mattress.

The full step by step instruction detail measuring your mattress, choosing building materials, and assembling extras like a headboard. Photos show the finished project.

To protect the mattress, the platform was lined with a sheet of scrap carpeting. Sturdy PVC piping was used for the legs, though you could use wood blocks or another material instead. If you do use PVC, you could paint and gloss the legs for a metallic look, as the author did, or paint the legs a solid color to match your décor.
